Cockington Court is a thriving centre of creativity and a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship
In recent years Cockington Court has undergone extensive renovation to transform the former aristocratic home into office space, inspiring craft studios and workspace.
The businesses who call Cockington Court home, between then offer a diverse mix of craft specialisms. To fit the ethos of the site, the studios are designed to include a shop front as well as a ‘making area’, where businesses must demonstrate their specialist skills to visitors.
Our Centre is set within an award-winning country park, just a mile from the seafront and a stones throw from the chocolate box village of Cockington, offering our makers the perfect environment to create their most impactful work.
Cockington Country park itself is managed and cared for by Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust, an independent conservation charity who’s mission is to conserve Torbay’s natural heritage for now and forever. The site offers visitors and their dogs a peaceful place to escape, enjoy a walk in the countryside, surrounded by an air of creativity.
As well as being able to see our craft makers busy at work, our onsite galleries also support and showcase emerging local talent. The Kitchen Gallery is gaining a growing reputation in the arts world as a contemporary gallery space of regional significance, having showcased work by artists of international acclaim as well as local talent. Our onsite shop is full with gifts, arts and crafts from local makers, as the site as a whole becomes known as a regional centre for promoting hand crafted quality local arts and crafts.
Make sure you keep an eye on our calendar as we plan to broaden our vibrant events programme, designed to support our ethos of promoting innovative, entrepreneurial and local creative talent.
