British Sculptor Nicola Axe creates bespoke stone sculptures for the home and garden.
Nicola’s passion for stone began in 2009. “I can’t imagine a life now without carving stone,” she says.
Nicola uses Portland limestone for her abstract and figurative work which is contemplative and meditative, inspired by the sculptors Modigliani and Brancusi. A fascination for Asian Buddhist art also influences the visions and meanings in her work.
Inspired by nature, Nicola carves beautiful and varied shell forms which make a stunning focal point for any garden and home interior.
Recent explorations into the colourful alabaster and serpentine stones have inspired her to create an exciting collection of Marine animals from Mobula Ray (Manta), Stingray, Sea Turtle, and Sea Jelly to Octopus.
Nicola’s work is often commissioned. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK and more locally as a regular of The Delamore Arts Exhibition in Ivybridge every May and Devon Open Studios in September. She is also an active member of Southwest Sculptors Group.
