Cockington Court maker, Debbie MacPherson Atelier features in Small Biz 100 line-up

Small Business Saturday takes place on 4 December 2021, a national initiative recognising small businesses right across the UK. Cockington Court maker, Debbie MacPherson and her bespoke leather and cork accessories business were chosen as one of the 100 businesses featured in the countdown to Saturday’s event.

Debbie MacPherson has been a maker at the Sea Change and Stable Yard Studios at Cockington Court for six years. The studios are home to over 20 skilled and contemporary artists and craft makers. Debbie joined Cockington Court in 2015. With a background in design and fashion, Debbie studied at London College of Fashion and has worked with leather since the age of 18. She now offers a selection of handcrafted bags and accessories, including vegan products crafted from sustainable cork fabric.

Marissa Wakefield, Centre Director at Cockington Court, said: “We’re thrilled that Debbie was part of the line-up for Small Biz 100. It’s fantastic that this UK wide initiative has highlighted Debbie’s exceptional business and skills. We’re delighted to have Debbie and her business as part of our incredible creative community here at Cockington Court.”

Commenting on both the awards and Cockington Court, Debbie MacPherson said: “I am delighted to have been selected as one of the Small Biz 100. I am passionate about inspiring consumers to shop consciously and locally whilst supporting their local community. I am fortunate to be based among many other talented small businesses at Cockington Court and would like to use this opportunity to shine a light on all the amazing makers based here.”

On Small Business Saturday, customers across the UK go out and support all types of small businesses, both online and in brick-and-mortar stores. The studios, galleries and manor house at Cockington Court provide a chance to discover local talent and to support small businesses. On Saturday 4 December a Winter Wonders event takes place to tie in with Small Business Saturday between 10am-4.30pm.
