Our response to the closure of Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust

We were saddened to hear the recent news that the Trustees of Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust have put the company into liquidation after many years of dedicated conservation work across Torbay.

The Trust has played a vital role in protecting and nurturing our local green spaces, including Cockington Country Park. We know that the situation will be deeply felt by many in our community and would like to extend our thanks to the Trust, its staff and volunteers for their work.

Whilst Cockington Country Park was managed and cared for by Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, Cockington Court is managed separately by Torbay Council.

We would like to reassure you that Cockington Court, the Manor House, gallery and café, and all of our wonderful tenant businesses remain open and operating as usual.

We are aware that Cockington Court is also used as a wedding ceremony venue by the Torbay Registrar and Celebrant Service. All existing wedding bookings remain secure, and ceremonies will continue as planned without disruption.

We understand that many of you will have questions about the impact of this news on Cockington Country Park. Torbay Council are working closely with partners and stakeholders to understand and assess the full impact of the Trust’s closure, and more information will be available over the coming weeks.

We appreciate your patience but are not in a position to answer specific questions.
